Check Out My Awesome Makeover!

What an awesome makeover. Diana at Custom Blog Designs did the most fabulous job redesigning my blog. I love the colors. I look at myself as a coach and my students are in training so, my theme expresses that. To me the blogging and following other blogs is like a huge, everlasting professional learning community. We continually learn from each other. Thanks again Diana.

Lose Yourself in a Good Book

Sorry, I disappeared for a few days. I went to Tampa to visit my family. I did not blog, but I did enjoy a great book. Here I am in the 3rd week of my summer vacation and I’m reading a great book on small group instruction by Jennifer Serravallo
and challenging myself to develop a thematic unit “Growing a Garden”. I love what I do. How can I expect my student to work hard, trust me, and rise to challenges if I don’t expect that from myself?  After self-reflecting on my school year I felt although my data was great, I needed to improve my small-group instruction. I want to make sure I’m not wasting instructional time

Summer School Rules !

I’m currently in day 2 of a five day class (help me!).
I’m screaming on the inside “get me out of here”. On the other hand I’m learning a lot about project based learning and how to develop a thematic unit. I’m very excited to put what I’m learning to work.  I have had my Common Core Standards and my E-textbooks up on the screen trying to develop a strategy to connect the standards with themes then incorporate projects. I wish my team was here, but I have been taking notes so we can get together and design wonderful learning experiences for our primary students. I can’t wait!

Busy as a Bee!

The summer is here and between a few nice trips and a little relaxation I have a lot to get done. I need help from my fellow bloggers and teachers.

 1.     I need to learn how to use Photoshop so that I can turn my great ideas into actual worksheets and centers.

2.     I need to get a new look for my blog and a banner for Facebook. Where do I go- who should I go to?

3.     I’m starting Common Core with 2nd grade next year and I’m concern about complexity. I need to read up on it. I have the standards and yes I will be reading through them but where are the great resources. Let me know if you know of any?

That’s my list so please share if you have answers to my questions and enjoy your summer!
